Shelby American

In November 2004, I dropped by the Shelby American Factory with my wife Arlene. It was late on a Saturday afternoon and I was expecting at best to be able to look through the window and hopefully see a few cars.

Needless to say, we were thrilled to see that we just stumbled upon a photo shoot of the Carroll Shelby Bike from Orange County Choppers of the hit TV series American Choppers and two Eleanor Shelby GT 500's.

As you can see there was almost no one around. I was expecting at anytime for the people from Shelby to ask us to leave or put the cameras away. They didn't and made my wife and I feel very welcome.

We spent a couple hours with a camera man and three guys from the Shelby Factory and these amazing machines. While we were there another trailer, Cobra and a GT 350 arrived as well. We were like kids in a candy store.

An original Cobra and GT 350 Mustang also made a surprise visit.

I turned around to see this bright yellow original Shelby Cobra #33 as it came screaming into the parking lot.I know this car, not only from seeing it in numerous car magazines, but also because in early 2004 I was taken for a ride in this amazing car. It was my very first Cobra ride, driven by the guy you see in the photo. Can you say 0-140 miles an hour in nothing flat?

This great looking Shelby GT 500 arrived during the photo shoot. I must say, it was pretty cool hanging around the Shelby American Factory. I was more than a little star struck.

While the camera man and the guys from the American Shelby Factory were working with the two GT 500's, Arlene and I had a chance to spend some time, all by ourselves, with the Carroll Shelby Bike.

It took everything I had, not to climb onto this bike.

It was exciting to see (and hear) two Eleanor Shelby GT 500's in the parking lot at the Shelby American Factory in Las Vegas as they were preparing to to position them for a photo shoot with the Carroll Shelby Bike.

Here's another angle of the Shelby Bike 500E and Eleanor Shelby GT 500. In all, it was a lot of fun being there for the photo shoot. I also had my video camera with me as well. I post a few videos shortly.

It was amazing to see how long the Carroll Shelby bike is. As you can see by the photo it's almost as wide as both cars put together.

The Carroll Shelby Bike and Eleanor Shelby GT 500 at the Shelby American Factory in Las Vegas, Nevada back in November of 2004 all set-up for a photo shoot. I was pinching myself.

Being more of a car guy I don't know what a lot of this stuff is, but it sure looks great, even up close! I would like to own a bike like this.

The bike wouldn't be complete without a signature from Carroll Shelby and stitching it right into the seat added a great touch. This is a great bike.

Here's a great shot of the craftsmanship that goes into the development of one of the OCC theme bikes. In this case, here's a close up of the Carroll Shelby bike from Orange County Choppers.

The attention to detail really is quite something on this bike. I have watched American Chopper since it began and it's nice to see that the Teutul's really do build quality bikes.
