Mark II Roadster

I remember the very first time I saw a Shelby Cobra. I didn't even know what it was and had to ask. It was during a trip to Kelowna in the summer of 1999, with my 18 year old girl friend Arlene, now my wife.

1

I decided to go with the full rear bumper set, and the tradition Cobra tail lights. If you look into the paint reflection you will see my son.

2

Custom dash with Autometer guages, start button, self cancelling turn signal switch with original style 14" steering wheel. Original style bucket seats, floor mats and custom carpeting interior and trunk, gear shift and emergency brake trim, cup holders and heated seats.

3

Vintage racing decals, 4 into 4 side pipes, heat shields, Team 3 Wheels rims, Khumo performance tires, red "team stripes" and the authentic Cobra badging.

4

After a straw poll of friends and family of the question "should or should I not add the vintage decals", even though the majority said "no", I decided to add them anyways. It was the right decision.

5

We finished off the engine compartment with Cobra valve covers and air cleaner, stainless steel braided lines, and a Flaming River 15:1 rack and pinion steering rack.

6

Peter Jacobsen managed to create a "vintage look" for FFR #4206 from Factory Five with this Western Motorsport 5.0 short block with EFI, ceramic intake and an SDS digital injection system.

7

I added the air intake screens to the front of the Cobra a few months after the build. I would recommend adding them during the build. It would be much easier to do when the body is off the frame.

8

Here's a shot of the Cobra sitting in the driveway after a good cleaning. I am not much of a fan of washing cars, but this is different.

9

I added a set of heat shields to the Cobra side pipes. These pipes to get burning hot and can cause a serious burn if you are not careful. They look great as well.

10

A close up shot of the Cobra gear shift knob with the hooded snake. You can also see the original style wood steering and the carpet close up.

11

A few more finishing touches were added to the cockpit including floor ats embossed with the Shelby Cobra logo, stainless steel cup holders, brush aluminum gear shift knob and custom wool carpeting.

12

I am happy with the detail here including the chrome dual fans, oil cooler with stainless steel braided lines, full bumper set and the covers on the air intakes.

13

I decided to add a set of valve stem covers to the Team 3 Wheels to give it the finished look. I don't recall what they cost, but I found them on the Finish Line website.

14

I wanted to keep the look of the interior of the car similar to the orginals of the 60s. I am happy with the overall look and love the fit and finish.

15

I thought it would be kind of fun to add a little nitrous "just in case". I must say though, I have never used it, even though it's fully plumbed. The car is was too fast already.
