The Beck 550 is probably the coolest ‘slacker style’ race car on the market. This is the one car that still draws the ladies even when they know your wallet’s probably empty. Beck is an actual replica of the Porsche 550 racecar from the 1950’s which handles extremely well and accelerates like a madman. The sweetest part is that most of the parts are from the 1960's VW Bug. This is the slacker’s version of hot.
Of course, the Beck’s engine is going to leak oil no matter what and the shifter is going to be floppy but isn’t that what gives this old babe her character? Her steering may pull a bit to the left but she’s still the paragon of ‘cool mom’ who your friends all probably want to sleep with while they tease you about her old parts. She just plain looks hot and she makes you feel cool even though you don’t have any real money to rev up her parts with. She can still transition very quickly and she’s sharp. The Beck 550 has all the reliability you'd ever get from your 1968 VW Bug with ten times the cool factor. You’ll know it when she’s yours because she won’t respond to anyone else.
With some great fiberglass work, this is just a very simple car that requires someone who will truly love it and never leave. You can usually purchase a fully built used Beck for around $20,000 and they are really the cheapest rebuild cars on the planet after you get them put together. If you need a new valve cover gasket it will cost you about $3 and pretty much anything you replace will be under 20 bucks. These are Volkswagon parts! Remember? If you’ve got the heart of an artist and the pocketbook to match, the Beck 550 is probably waiting for you. Whisper in her ear and ask her to never leave. This matured little hottie will be yours forever.
