What You Could Look For in Kit Car Coverage

By Guest Writer
By Andrew Pickles

If you have a Kit car then as you already know it will probably be one on its own. You could have added many custom parts to the car and these could all add up to quite an expense. Therefore when looking for Kit car cover you should ensure that your policy would protect your car against all eventualities and for the correct amount.

Tips for Insuring Your Kit Car

By James Martell
Recently I overheard a conversation about insuring kit cars and thought some of the information discussed worthy enough to pass on simply because obtaining insurance for your kit car is a different process than obtaining insurance for an off-the-shelf product.

The 1955 MG TF Replica for the High Class Kangaroo

By Paul Ambrose
It was just after the Aussie Band “Men at Work” made international fame that the "T-Car" went into production in New Zealand.  Ever since that time, the Aussie kangaroos have been driving down under in high class mate!  This car was originally designed by Russell Hooper in 1983 and the first T-Cars were put together on a Triumph chassis.  Modeled after the original 1955 MG TF, they have a custom-built frame and some Nissan and GM/Australia running gear.  This is one class act that is hard to beat down under.

Originally, the 1955 MG TF has endured what many other great automobiles could not.  It had become a legend such that old Russell Cooper wanted to emulate it. The team known as Alternative Cars Intl Ltd. worked with Russell to produce a kit which put the "T" Car in the best seller category for New Zealand automobiles. He was a medical supply representative who had always dreamed of owning an MG TF, but could never justify the extraordinary price tag. Instead, he decided to build his own car by using the Triumph platform chassis, that vehicle being the only modern car with separate chassis and other mechanical parts from the UK. His idea made an affordable car our of what had been unthinkable only a few years earlier.

Alternative Cars Intl Ltd still manufactures that replica as a kitset, a semi built vehicle, a turnkey minus, or a complete turnkey. It appeared on the stand of The Sports Car Club of NZ at the 1984 Motor Show and people loved it so much that the decision to mass produce was immediately approved. The newer replica versions have the style of the earlier 1955 model with greater reliability, performance and safety. There is now a collapsible steering column, a dual circuit boosted brake system, a low pressure fuel system, high stop lights, and interior impact design.  A strong chassis and crash protections also make this a car of the modern age. With so many people all over New Zealand finding pleasure in building this "T" Car, you might give it a run for your money.  You can even join the Club they have organized down under mate! They say it’s even more stylish than a kangaroo wearing a tuxedo and a bow tie.

In a 1/18th World, You Can Have Your Own Stable of Lamborghinis from Diecastfast.Com

By Marilyn Stokes
I have to confess, I've never understood the diecast car world, though I know firsthand it exists. In my time with Ford Motor Company, one of the top executives in my department used to get extra anxious around the tenth of each month, pacing around and waiting for the arrival of the package cart, which contained Fed X and UPS deliveries for the day.

Ice Cube and the Ford Shelby Cobra Concept

By Paul Ambrose
If it's good enough for Ice Cube, then it's probably good enough for the rest of us. That's right.....It was actually Ice Cube who drove this car in the movie “xXx: State of the Union.”  Well, you have to give the original some credit; The Shelby Cobra sure knows how to reinvent itself.  Now they’ve got a little car that packs an enormous punch and everybody wants to drive it.
