About
Remember the days when motor cars had a special allure, the days when everything about a car was romantic. Those were the golden days of motoring and although cars were more of a nuisance, people still obsessed over them. Of course, it’s their obsession with mechanical wonders that has brought us to today’s technology.
So no matter if you find the 40’s to be fabulous or think that the 60’s was the most swinging decade; you will find something to your tastes at the Goodwood Revival.
The Goodwood Revival is like a time capsule to the amazing past of the car races. It gives attendees a unique chance to party during the golden era of motor racing. Goodwood has one of the most authentic race circuits in the world.
It is the world’s most extraordinary motor race meeting. It is considered one of its kind because the event is held completely within the time capsule of the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s. It’s the biggest car party of the year, and guess what? You get to dress up in your favorite classic dresses.
It’s all part of the nostalgia; the cars, the criminals and of courses the clothes.
Yea! The Goodwood people are so bent on reality that if you are lucky you will be able to spot crooked criminals selling counterfeit watches on the roadside. Or maybe you will see people jiving their blues away under a tree, just like they did in the 60’s. In short the organizers have to go to great lengths to ensure the believability of their races.
So if feel like leaving the modern world behind and want to revel in the amazing celebration of motoring heyday then this is your event. The fact is that the Revival festival is not just about the cars and customs, it’s also about the people. The Goodwood Revival honors motor sport vets such as Sir Stirling Moss, Richard Attwood, John Surtees and Derek Bell.
A majority of the visitors will be dressed up in period appropriate clothes, and of course modern cars aren’t allowed anywhere near the circuit parameter.
But it’s not all about cars. An aerial theater is also planned to celebrate the aviation heritage of the world. The stunning maneuvers will take place in the sky above the former WWII aerodrome.
The Goodwood Revival festival started in 1998 and hasn’t looked back since. It revives the golden, glory days of motor circuit racing at Goodwood. I was the one of Britain’s best racing venue throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s.
So if haven’t visited Goodwood ever, the Revival festival would be a nice place to start. You are in for a treat that will stimulate all your senses.
