For all you Cobra enthusiasts out there (and who isn't?), there is an event coming up that you definitely don't want to miss. The Deep South Cobra Club is hosting its 6th annual Reptile Roundup on November 14th through the 18th, 2007 in Gainesville, Texas.
This annual event is jam-packed with great events for Cobra fans and their families. In fact, both track and non-track events are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, so even non-racing Shelby Cobra enthusiasts will find a lot of fun things to do.
The Reptile Roundup will hit the ground running on Wednesday, November 14th with the Gainesville Test and Tune. This is going to be heart-racing, adrenaline-pumping quarter mile drag race at the legendary Gainesville Raceway. Your Cobra must be street legal in order to take part in this Test and Tune race. For more info on this kickin' event, go to the Gainesville Raceway website. The gates will open at 6:30PM and the fun gets under way at 7:00PM.
On Thursday, the "King of Gainesville" crown will be up for grabs as Part I of the DSCC Touring Rally takes place. No matter what your skill level is or even if you're a newbie to the world of racing, everyone has a shot at this year's title. Here's a heads-up though - all competing Cobras must pass a basic tech inspection and drivers must have a helmet, long-sleeved shirt and long pants (no shorts).
Friday serves up another day of great fun with Part II of the Touring Rally as well as the Gainesville Open Track Event. Come try your racing skills and your Cobra's muscle power with the drive of your life on the fabled pavement of the Gainesville Raceway.
And be sure to take part in the "Snake" convoy Friday evening down to Silver Springs for a free Meet and Greet dinner. This is a fantastic place to chat up other Cobra enthusiasts while enjoying free food and drinks courtesy of Deep South Cobra Club.
So what else does DSCC have up its sleeve for the upcoming Reptile Roundup? Saturday will feature a car show at Silver Springs Nature Park from 9:00AM until 5:00PM, and the day will be capped off with a banquet dinner on the spectacular banks of the main spring at Silver Springs.
Sunday will be spent saying goodbye to new and old friends alike at the Farewell Breakfast. And if you haven't quite gotten enough of the beauty of the Silver Springs Nature Park, feel free to roam and explore until 5:00 that evening.
The Deep South Cobra Club was founded in 2000 by Jerry Rowley. DSCC is made up of a wide spectrum of Cobra enthusiasts who all love building, restoring and racing. The club is sponsored by Factory Five Racing, Backdraft Racing and McMichael Motorsports.
