Anyone looking to get dirty? Say no more. The Dakar 4x4 is here and it’s ready for the dirtiest trouble you can muster up. This awesome kit-car is based on the original Range Rover. Originally produced by Dakar Cars Limited, the outfit was taken over by Dakar Cars Design and Conversions in Leicestershire, UK and now delivers more personal service than the early producers. With rolling chassis, engine, suspension and four wheel drive all coming from the original system, somebody is going to get real dirty indeed! Then they will likely cover their tracks in the amazing new styling that makes this vehicle look like its fit for any environment. You can clean yourself up and still impress your mother.
With a reduced bodyweight, the Dakar design improves performance as well as the approach and departure angles of the original design. The kit has actually developed slowly over the years and it can now be fitted to a Discovery chassis if any of you adventurers so desire. Some especially wild maniacs have even gone so far as to add in some big engine upgrades like the 7.3L small block Chevy with a nitrous oxide injection. They were likely planning to get a lot more dirty that the average kit car enthusiast.
The Dakar has also been featured on television when it was chosen for the series ‘Challenge Anneka’ to replace the earlier used VW beach buggy. The replacement had a light blue body with a yellow roll cage that really looked sweet on the series. Small-scale Dakar’s for children have also been put together and created quite a stir among the little folks. This is definitely a fun vehicle all around and it really brings out the adventurer in anyone who decides to purchase it.
The Dakar kit is completely road legal and it meets all UK legislation. Shipping is done worldwide but customers need to make sure their local road traffic laws allow it in other countries. The Dakar comes in kit form or with a full manual building or in a fully built version that can be finished out to your personal specifications. Standard colours are Red, White, Blue, Black, Yellow and Green but many other colours are available at cost including the extra fancy metallic and even some glitter finishes. Of course, you might not see that glitter too long after you drench the entire vehicle in mud just like I expect you are likely to do. Don’t get too dirty folks. At least don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.
