Ah, the post-WWII golden days: peace and prosperity returned to the land, modern suburban homes sprawled all over, everyone had jobs, and snappy new pickup trucks started driving around in town rather than just down on the farm. Something about a shiny 1948 Chevy pickup truck coming down the street made everyone smile and it still has that effect today.

You're going to get more than just kicks on route 66 if you decide to make the LS53 your next project. The LS53 Route 66 is the replica of the rarest Corvette ever made and that is enough to make you a star on the open road. In addition to the classic appeal, the modern body is made so similar that it would actually fit the true 53-55 Corvette frame.  This is something you can prove to yourself if you were so inclined to test it. In fact, there isn't a more true kit that would match its original muse than the LS53 Route 66. They certainly chose the right car to replicate with such precision. The 53-55 Corvette is one of a kind.

As I was heading for the Shelby American booth, hoping for an autograph from Carroll Shelby, I stumbled upon this 1960 Corvette Roadster replica by HiTek Hot Rods of Dayton Ohio.

The car features a 383 Stroker engine, Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission by Keisler Engineering, custom 2x4 box tube frame, with 9" Ford housing, C4 Corvette front suspension, and triangulated 4-link with adjustable coil overs.

At a distance or up close the car is beautifully finished.
