Zephyr was originally the name of the powerful Greek god of the wind.  He was apparently pretty charming as he had several wives including the goddess of the rainbow.  Back in his day, the Lincoln-Zephyr coupe was also considered to be a pretty charming vehicle in his own right. With the low raked windscreen, integrated fenders, and aerodynamic design, this bad boy was always turning the ladies heads. Even though he’s probably older than your grandfather, the Lincoln Zephyr coupe is still thought to be one of the first successful streamlined cars in history and it lives on today thanks to the boys at Deco Rides.

The 1939 Zephyr Coupe first became available as a two-door or four-door sedan. The three-window coupe was added in 1937, followed by a convertible coupe and the almighty club coupe.  It was powered by a small V12 engine developed from Ford's Flathead V8 unrelated to the previous Lincoln V12 engines. The 1939 Lincoln Zephyr coupe was 267 cubic inches of pure power and it features some of the first hydraulic lifters. Even the engine was impressive in that day and had 110 hp giving the car a top speed of 90 miles per hour.

Today Deco Rides (www.decorides.com) in Long Valley, New Jersey is offering 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Kit Car Bodies based on the original famed Scrape coupe. These were originally offered as a 1939 Zephyr coupe, convertible, and fastback sedan fiberglass kit car bodies. Zephyr "turnkeys" became the only coupes and convertibles available. Then in 2008, the company transported all of its molds to a fiberglass fabricator and the result was a markedly higher quality product. The bodies are now constructed of a combination of hand laid and chopper gun construction that results in a body stronger than ever. The marine fabrics are what provide the superior strength on these amazing works of art. All the bodies come with a sturdy metal support structure built into the cowl and A-pillar area. They come with hung and latched doors, and a hinged hood and trunk.

Get ready for the good news folks!  You can now order a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr coupe, convertible or fastback fiberglass body for only $8,900.
